Norway Highlights
-The North Cape is not the northernmost point of continental Europe but close enough to draw many visitors. The drive over the tundra from Honningsvag to the cape is already a treat in itself.
-Nussfjord in the Lofoten is an old fishing village frequently visited by passengers of cruiseships that call port at Leknes.
-The small island of Grip, just of the coast of Krisiansund is a relaxed gem.
-After the massive 1904 fire the town of Alesund was completely rebuild in full Jugendstil fashion.
-If you want to see puffins, eagles and other birds, head for the little island Runde.
-Negotiating the imposing Trollstigen road requires stable nerves but also provides the most stunning views.
-The Geiranger fjord receives scores of visitors and for very good reason.
-The Jostedal Glacier is Europe's largest and you can see some of it's branches at Briksdal to the north and Bøyabreen in the south.
-The famous train from Flåm to Mirsdal leads through nice valleys and along snowcapped mountains.
-Bergen is a thriving port but has also conserved it's old dock called Bryggen.
-In the capital Oslo you can see some well preserved Viking longships in the Vikingskipshuset museum.
