The
Jostedalsbreen is the largest glacier in mainland Europe. One of its northern branches is the
Briksdal Glacier, located in the
Jostedalsbreen National Park.
The easiest way to get there is taking the bus from
Stryn. It will bring
you to the Briksdal Mountain Lodge, from where you can hike the few kilometers to the glacier, or you can board one of the scenic
Troll Cars for a more relaxed but also pretty expensive ride.
On your way to the glacier you will pass the roaring
Kleivafossen waterfalls. And yes, you will get wet when you cross the bridge. Note: you have to cross the same bridge again on
the way back, so enjoy the 2d shower.
We visited Stryn and the Briksdalbreen in July 2014.
