Landbirds at Cabo de la Huerta (3)

Cabo de la Huerta sports a Mediterranean climate with dry, warm summers and mild winters. The slopes and rocky waterfront provide good habitat for many species of bird.

The northern slope is covered with shrubs and thus attractive for many Landbirds.(And, less fun, dog turds because residents tend to walk their pet here.)
These shrubs and high grasses provide ample insects, lizards and grasshoppers for hungry birds and shelter against the resident Common Kestrels.

In, on and under the shrubs,in the high grasses and on the bare rocks, you may spot a Hoopoe, White Wagtail, Dartford Warbler or an Iberian Grey Shrike.

A comprehensive guide of all fauna and flora in the Alicante region is here.
See this list for all birds observed at the Cape.

The photographs date from April 2025 through May 2025.
