Cabo de la Huerta sports a Mediterranean climate with dry, warm summers and mild winters. The slopes and rocky waterfront provide good habitat for many species of bird.
In spring Red-rumped Swallows and Barn Swallows may show up at the waterfront
for a healthy sea lunch or to collect mud for the nest.
The northern slope is covered with shrubs and thus
is attractive for many Landbirds.(And, less fun, dog turds because residents tend to walk their pet here.)
These shrubs
and high grasses provide ample insects, lizards and grasshoppers for hungry birds and shelter against the resident Common
Kestrels.
In, on and under the shrubs and in the high grasses, and depending of the season, you may spot Corn Buntings, Crested Larks, Spotless Starlings, Woodschat Shrikes, Magpies, Colored Doves, Wood Pigeons and Rock Doves.
