The
Lookout Trail is touted as providing one of the most scenic panoramic views in Gros Morne Park.
This strenuous
traill starts at the
Discovery Center near
Woody Point and climbs 350 meters through forests and some alpine meadows
to the lookout on a hill top.
From here there are fantastic views of Bonne Bay, the Tablelands and the Long Range Mountains.
We
hit the Lookout at a hot and sunny afternoon in September 2017 and found that sections of the trail were under construction. The
boardwalks over the meadows were fine but especially the steeper parts had become wet, muddy and at times very slippery.
We
did not make it all the way up to the Lookout but had climbed high enough to enjoy the nice views of Bonne Bay and the Tablelands.
And the bog meadows were already changing to the autumn colors.
at the start of the trail there is a note that the trail is under construction
we have to stop to give the right of way to a colorful caterpillar
a nice view of Bonne Bay
the Tablelands
this section of the trail is clearly under construction
