It is a very popular destination because of the cable
car system that lifts you in two stages from downtown Chamonix at 1035 m to the upper station at 3777 m.

An elevator in the mountain brings you to the observation deck at a whopping 3842 m, the world's highest vertical ascent by a
		cable car system.

At the top you have, weather permitting, a stunning view of the
Mont Blanc Massif and tiny Chamonix
way down. Please be aware that even on sunny days the temperature here may well be below freezing.

At Heilbrunner you can now board the brand new
Skyway Monte Bianco for the descend to the famous ski location
		of
Courtmayeur at an elevation of 1224 m.

We rode the Aiguille du Midi cable car in July 1986 when most of the fancy present
day facilities were not yet present.
