around Lac de Serre-Poncon
In summer
Lac de Serre Poncon draws a lot of visitors that are attracted by the sunny weather and its beautiful environment.
Sunbathers
flock to the beaches at Saint Michel and
Savines from where you can wade into the cold, cristal clear water.
The winds are
ideal for sailing or surfing and to visit the tiny
St Michel Island with the small 17th century chapel.
The
Demoisselles
Coiffees near Le Sauze du Lac are very interesting geological formations well worth a visit.
The narrow and winding
D3 road leading from
Chorges to the huge 123 meters high earthen dam with the hydro electric power plant is a treat in itself
with great vistas.
Embrun is a small medieval town with old fortification walls, Here the Durance river unloads its cold water
into the lake.
For a helicopter-view of the lake you can take one of the several hiking trails on the Chabrieres or
Morgon mountains.
From 1978 through 1989 we have often spent our summer vacation at the Lac.
