elder people help with the flowers
mothers closely watch their offspring take a boatride
at the entrance you can buy sweets, drinks and balloons
on our way along the park's wall at Fuxing Lu
only the towering buildings in the background reminds you of the nearby city
a sculpture made by Mother Nature
you cannot start too early learning how to fish
Fuxing Park started as a private garden way back in the Ming period, but it got its present layout in 1909 when it was part of
the
French Concession and there is still a specific French touch to it.
Ponds, fountains and colorful, well maintained flower
beds create a relaxing atmosphere in which older people can stroll along the waterfront, practice
Tai chi or show of their caged birds.
You
can see men playing boardgames or cards while being watched by several non-playing experts.
Children can hone their
fishing skills in the well stocked fish ponds or take for a ride in small boats.
Fuxing park is surrounded
by walls which provide an effective shield against the noises from the busy city.
When we lived in Shanghai
from 2003 through 2006 we liked to spend a few relaxing hours here every now and then.
Fuxing Park is located near the busy NS elevated road but still remarkebly quiet
the original manhole covers are still there
Chinese are very practical people so they stock-up the pond with fish to facilitate an easy catch
you do not expect serene sceneries like this in the middle of bustling Shanghai
there is no shortage of non-playing experts
