Tai Hua Temple in Kunming
Tai Hua is an old Buddhist temple situated in the Western Hills of Kunming. The temple was built in 1306
by Liang Wang, one of
Kublai Khan's sons. Over time Tai Hua has seen many major reconstructions and renovations.
It is a tranquil
place, featuring many special plants and flowers. The old
Ginkgo tree in front of the temple is said to be planted 600 years
ago by Ming emperor
Zhu Yunwen himself after he was dethroned by his mean uncle Zhu Di.
In addition to the Great Hall
and Heavenly Hall there are a couple of other pavilions and a nice pond with turtles.
We visited Tai Hua Temple in August
2005.
