Traveling the 200+ km on the scenic Pan American Highway (1S) from Paracas at the Pacific coast to Nazca will present
you with wide vistas and interesting places.
A few kms from Paracas the desert starts, including ever changing sand dunes.
Just
outside the regional capital Ica there is a little gem called Huacachina Oasis with a small lake surrounded by high
sand dunes where you can practice your sand boarding skills and enjoy buggy rides.
Just before reaching the vertile
area around the Rio Grande river the road crawls through a rudged mountain ridge, providing nice photo opportunities.
