ever seen anything like this?
the view is superb
at the Tongue Point Outlook there is a good view with Whiteheaven Beach to the left and Hill Inlet to the right
the white sand is pure quartz
we make a wet landing at majestic Hill Inlet beach
but soon it's our turn
in the afternoon we return to a completely rebuild Shute Harbor near Airlie Beach
a view to the northeast
the Hill Inlet at Whiteheaven Beach
To the north the tidal whirls in the Hill Inlet create an ever shifting hue of white sand, azure
and turquoise waters with a deep blue sky above. Its beauty is just stunning.
There is an outlook at Tongue Point from where
you can observe this magnificent natural panorama.
Access to the beach is by boat only, most operators work from Shute Harbor
near Airlie Beach, some combine it with a nice relaxed shallow dive in one of the island's northern lagunas.
In 2017
Cyclone
Debbie stormed right over the area, removing much of the white sand and dumping scores of uprooted and devastated trees
on the shoreline.
Major restoration works were started soon after the devastation and nowadays the place looks as fantastic as before.
We visited
in October 2004 and found it to be one of the most beautiful places on earth.
a Google Earth view of the whirly Hill Inlet with Whiteheaven Beach to the south
transportation to the beach is by small zodiac, we have to wait for our turn
