this is Ton Sai Beach at high tide
we are hungry and head for the restaurant

a favorite place for backpackers who spend quality time on the beach at budget prices.
The area is famous for its limestone
cliffs and steep pinnacles and hence attracts scores of rock climbers. For some reason many of these daredevils haul
all the way from Scandinavia. But the agressive monkeys that live on and around the cliffs are 100% local.
The
December
2004 tsunami also struck here, but because of the relatively steep slope of the beaches nobody got killed.

January 2004 we took the early morning ferry from Phuket to Pi-Pi Island, changed at sea to the smaller ferry for Railay Beach and
from there took a long-tail boat to Ton Sai Bay for a relaxed two day holiday.
