Rancho Primicias
The highlands of Santa Cruz Island are the domain of free roaming Galapagos Giant Tortoises.
These behemoths can reach life spans of well over a century and adults weigh in at an impression 250 kg+.

On the Rancho Primicias the turtles feast on fruits from the guava orchard.
Guava trees are actually an invasive species but those tortoises don't care and just love those fruits.

On the premises of the ranch there are also a couple of lava tubes to visit.

We went to el Rancho Primicias in June 2009 and watched the giant turtles up close.
