the Baroness Outlook, she did pick a nice place for it
Floreana Island's history is very interesting and includes whalers, convicts and deadly German family feuds.
Popular among
visiting tourist is to drop mail in the barrel at Post Office Bay, a tradition started by whalers back in the 18th century. The system
is still working.
In the morning of June 2d 2009 we performed a smooth wet landing at Cormorant Point to explore the beach and to check
out the Flamingos in a brackish pond. Unfortunately, apart from the wet feet, the rest of this excursion was rather
uneventful.
In the afternoon we climbed up to the platform at the
Baroness Lookout to hear about its morbid history
and to enjoy the view.
