Örebro
Örebro is a county capital on the main road from Gothenburg to Stockholm, along the river Svartån that drains into the nearby lake Hjälmaren.

The city is first mentioned in documents of the 13th century. The connection to the lake made it a commercial center iIn the Middle Ages.

A booming shoe-making industry in the 19th century gave Örebro a much needed  growth spurt.

Today the town is known for its university, the medieval Örebro Castle from the 16th century and Wadköping, an open-air museum with wooden buildings from the past centuries.

We were in Örebro in July 2016.
