Terrace Mountain is the world's
largests calcium carbonate depositing hot spring.
Norris Geyser Basin is the source of the hot springs, the water travels through
a limestone-rich underground fault.
At Mammoth temperatures have dropped enough to allow algue growth in the pools
that gives the travertine its special colors.
