The name Dimmuborgir means dark forts in the Islandic language, a proper name
for the many strangely shaped outcrops and caves. They are the remains of an ancient large lavatube that collapsed.
Legend
has it that Dimmuborgir is the place where Satan set foot on earth when he was finally kicked out of heavens.

or not, walking through this wierd landscape you will understand why someone got that idea.
