the Garden of Remembrance
Commando Memorial
Just Northwest of Spearbridge you find the The Commando Memorial to the left of the A82 road to Fort Augustus.
It is dedicated to theBritish Commando Forces who trained here in WorldWar II.

At the end of the war 25.000 men had been trained here, British and volunteers from many other nationalities.

The bronze statue is set in the rugged scenery of the Grampian mountains with the soldiers looking towards Ben Nevis, with 1344 meters Britains highest mountain.

A more recent addition to the monument is the Garden of Remembrance as a final resting place for the ashes of WWII veteran Commandos.

We visited the Memorial in May 2015.
