The A82 to Loch Leven passes through a valley (the Scotts call it a Glen) with a wild and impressive scenery.
Snow capped mountains
and a valley-floor covered with the typical redbrown colored peat make for a spectacular panarama.
Glen Coe was created
during the last ice age by a glacier that cut its way through the volcanic rocks of the Highlands.
The Coe river runs through the
valley and creates some nice waterfalls.
In the winter of 1692 it was the setting for wat is know as the
Massacre
of Glencoe. Nearly 40 MacDonalds were murdered by their guests. Another 40 women and children, their homes burned down,
died of hypothermia.
We visited the Glen in May 2015 on our way to Loch Ness.
on our way we stop at the Deanston Distillery. But they do not serve whisky before 10 AM
