Nice's nickname is Nice la Belle, and for good reasons. Thanks to a pleasant climate and a relaxed atmosphere it is a pleasure
to stroll the Promenade des Anglais along the Baie des Anges, or visit the Place Massena,
Castle Hill or the old cityquarters.
Already in
prehistoric times the beaches of Nice attracted people, the site at
Terra Amata dates back some 400.000 years!
Much later the
Greeks build a settlement here and named it after there god Nike.
In the 18th century rich and wealthy English aristocrats discovered
the pleasures of a warm winter stay-over.
The city is host to many museums and features ample monuments and sculptures.
No
wonder millions of tourists visit Nice every year. So did we in October 2014.
On July 14 2016 a crazy islamic terrorist
drove his
truck into the celebrating crowds on the Promenade des Anglais, killing 86 and injuring 343 innocent people.
