San Cristobal Island is home to the official capital of the Galapagos Islands, the small fishing town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Just out of town you can visit the small museum on human history.

Not much else to do here, except for a couple of T-shirt shops and the ever-present local wildlife in and around the harbor.

 

Earlier in the rainy morning of June 1
of 2009 we visited Kicker Rock, the split remains of an exploded ancient lava cone.

It is a prime snorkeling and diving area where you can spot turtles, rays, sharks and even the occasional hammerhead. 

 

We did see the end of the rainbow here, but somehow missed the pot of gold.
